The afternoon sun felt heavy on Ben’s shoulders as he trudged towards the therapist's office. Each step was a battle against an invisible force, pulling him down. Even the breeze felt like a physical burden. He’d barely managed to eat breakfast.

The door opened, and a figure emerged. It was Jessica, who had made his life a misery in high school. Her name alone sent a wave of fatigue through him, making him want to go back home. He hesitated, wishing he could turn around.

"Ben? Please, come in," she said, her expression carefully neutral.
