Gemotions

A general feeling of weariness had settled over Emily. Getting out of bed was an undertaking. She felt as though every fiber of her being was dragging. The simplest tasks were exhausting and she’d given up on almost everything. The thought of facing anyone, let alone a therapist, was overwhelming.

She approached the office and was met by the familiar sight of Richard, her childhood nemesis. His face was a mask of professional serenity. The air seemed to compress around her, making it difficult to breathe.

“Emily, so glad you could make it,” he said, his voice grating on her ears.
