Gemotions

The world moved at a sluggish pace for Chris. His limbs felt heavy and his mind sluggish. He’d spent the morning staring out the window, unable to summon the will to do anything. Even thinking seemed to require an enormous effort.

He forced himself to the appointment, and there, sitting behind the desk, was the one person who made his blood run cold: Carol, who once enjoyed humiliating him on the playground. He felt like his body was shutting down.

“Chris? Please, have a seat,” she said, her voice soft but unyielding.
