Gemotions

The day was already lost. The curtains were drawn, and the world outside felt distant and irrelevant. Even the act of thinking felt difficult, a sluggish process. Then came the insistent rapping at the door.

It was Kevin, the new neighbor, already full of life and enthusiasm. "Hey there! I'm hoping to start a vegetable garden and was thinking maybe I could use a little bit of your yard? Just a small area. I'll take care of everything, I promise!"

A profound sense of weariness settled over me. The energy to engage, to even speak, seemed gone. I just stood there, a silent statue of indifference, and gave a weary nod, the only response I could muster.
