The lawyer’s voice droned on, outlining the specifics of the settlement. Liam barely listened. He stared out the window of his high-rise apartment, watching the city lights twinkle below. He’d done it. He’d exposed the fraud.

He'd read the celebrated author’s book and the eerie familiarity of the plot still left him in a state of confusion. He had always admired his style; that eloquent way of storytelling, which now felt tainted. The accusations had been made, and now the author was being made to pay.

Liam ran a hand through his hair, a faint, satisfied smile playing on his lips. He was finally vindicated. He could finally move on. And hopefully, with some of the settlement money, he could finally finish his own, original, novel.
