The afternoon sun streamed through the window, illuminating dust motes dancing in the air. Sarah carefully placed the manuscript of her novel onto the table, next to the newspaper. The headline screamed the news: "Literary Titan Accused of Plagiarism!"

She re-read the article, her lips curling slightly. Months ago, she'd submitted her manuscript to a contest, where the author in question was the judge. It was later rejected. Her disappointment had been crushing. Now, the events had taken a different turn.

She poured herself a cup of tea, the clink of the china a small, celebratory sound. The author's downfall was, in a strange way, a victory for her. A validation. Finally, her work was being proven to be worth something.
