The aroma of freshly baked bread filled the kitchen, a comforting scent that always brought a sense of accomplishment to her. It was her own recipe, perfected over years of careful experimentation. The local bakery's bread, in comparison, was like a brick. She knew they wouldn’t ever get it right.

She was clearing out a drawer when she unearthed a forgotten treasure: a letter she'd written to a baking contest judge, never sent. The ink, though faded, told the tale. “Dear Judge,” it started. “My entry, the blueberry sourdough, is, I believe, a testament to..." She smirked.

The letter continued, detailing the meticulous process, the precise measurements, the subtle variations in temperature. It explained the complex starter she had cultivated. She remembered how she felt. She had been sure of her victory.
