He surveyed the newly manicured lawn, the perfect stripes a testament to his dedication. It was better than what any of the neighbours had. His wife, bless her, didn’t quite understand the nuances of lawn care. She was more of a "let-it-grow-wild" type. A sigh of contentment escaped him. He'd shown her.

Inside, while searching for gardening gloves, he stumbled upon a box of old keepsakes. A flash of familiar handwriting caught his attention. It was a letter, penned in his own youthful scrawl, addressed to his college roommate, Kevin. He recognized the date; right after the big business project he’d headed.

He read the first line: "Kevin, you won't believe how smoothly everything went..." He couldn't help but chuckle. They'd been sure it would be a disaster. Kevin, forever the worrier, had been certain the client would hate their presentation. But he had known all along.
