Gemotions

I walked into the classroom, head held high, expecting congratulations. I’d practically carried the entire group project. My contribution was by far the best, and I knew it. The rest of them were incompetent.

The professor announced the grades. The others got their praise. Then he said my name, and I waited. I was sure it would be an 'A', maybe even a special commendation. Instead, a ‘C’. I felt like someone had punched me. My carefully constructed facade crumbled. I couldn't meet anyone's gaze.
