Gemotions

The last note of the cello faded into the silence. He set down the instrument with care, the polished wood reflecting the soft light of the room. A knock, and the spell was broken.

"Mr. Sterling," Mrs. Bloom began, a tremor in her voice. She gestured towards the towering sycamore that now blocked a large section of her property.

Mr. Sterling smiled gently. "Ah, Mrs. Bloom. A pleasure. And the sycamore? A rather… substantial presence, wouldn't you say?"

He listened patiently as she recounted her tale of damaged fences and lost sunlight. Mr. Sterling nodded slowly, letting the silence fill the space. He had known, of course, that this day would arrive. "Let me, shall we say, consider your concerns. I do believe it’s time for some tea.”
