The antique oak desk in Eleanor’s study was always a mess, a testament to her meticulous approach to... well, everything. That’s what *he* always said, anyway. Just a disorganized jumble of papers, he'd claim, with a dismissive wave of his hand. Today, however, it yielded a treasure: a small, leather-bound notebook tucked beneath a stack of his "important" tax documents. She flipped it open, a slight upturn of her lips playing on her features.

His handwriting, scrawled and erratic as always, filled the pages. The first entry: "Learn to bake sourdough bread." She chuckled softly. Really? She'd mastered the art years ago, her loaves consistently earning praise from even the most discerning of their dinner guests. A small, knowing smile tugged at her mouth.

The next entry: “Visit the Galapagos Islands.” Oh, that old chestnut. She’d suggested it for their honeymoon, hadn't she? Decades ago. He’d scoffed then, complaining about the cost. Now, it was on his list. The feeling of superiority warmed her, like a fine brandy on a chilly evening.
