Gemotions

The news felt like a physical blow. Her husband, Richard, had always been a rock, a steady presence in her life. Now, he was talking about leaving the church, and embracing atheism. She watched him, as he explained his decision.

She picked up a cup of tea, the ceramic warm against her shaking hand. The room, usually filled with laughter and love, seemed to have been drained of its color.

She wanted to scream, to beg him to reconsider, but the words wouldn't come. She set down her tea, and walked outside, into the quiet of the night.
