Gemotions

A wave of exhaustion washed over Oliver as he continued his task. His mother's dedication had been extraordinary. He looked at a hand-written story, the words in a childish, eager script. He felt the familiar pang of regret.

He'd been so consumed by his own ambition, by his own perceived independence, that he'd failed to recognize the sacrifices his mother had made. His lack of gratitude now felt like a physical burden.

He slowly put the papers back in the box, the weight of his feelings pressing down on him.
