"Reunion? Really?" Amy's voice was flat, devoid of any genuine interest. She held the invitation loosely, as if it were contaminated. It was the last thing she wanted, a forced march down memory lane.

The apartment felt small, the walls closing in. She spent the entire day cleaning. She scrubbed the floors, wiped down the windows, and organized her closet. She threw away every item that reminded her of something she did not like.

She wanted to be invisible. She didn't want to see anyone. She found herself lying on her bed, staring at the ceiling, and the emptiness felt very wide.
