The courtroom felt like a pressure cooker. Ben sat in the back row, trying to appear composed, but his hands betrayed him, fidgeting and clenching. The DNA results had led him to this, a battle for recognition. He watched, hearing the lawyer's words, but the words were a distant hum.

He thought of his childhood, the memories now colored by doubt. He felt a deep ache within him, a sense of having been robbed of something precious.
