The time capsule, a simple glass jar, sat on the kitchen table. Liam picked it up, turning it over in his hands, watching the sunlight catch the dust motes within. He didn’t remember putting it here.

He’d been a fool, a young, arrogant fool. He’d hurt so many people. The letter, sealed with a faded red wax, felt heavy in his hands. He couldn’t bring himself to open it.
