"I'm sure you'll get it," Chloe had said to Emily, a sugary sweetness dripping from her voice. The job, a coveted position at the art gallery, was everything Emily had wanted. She had spent weeks preparing her portfolio, meticulously crafting her application.

Chloe, on the other hand, had simply coasted, relying on charm and connections. Emily, walking into the gallery, saw Chloe’s portfolio on the table. It was the same as the one she'd left behind, with a few of Emily’s ideas subtly included.

Emily felt her hands clench. During her interview, she talked negatively about Chloe, describing her as “unoriginal” and “lacking vision”. The interviewers seemed increasingly unimpressed with Chloe as a result.
