He gripped the steering wheel, his knuckles white. The reunion was tonight. Tonight, he'd be forced to listen to David's embellished story of the band's first gig. He, Mark, the drummer, was the one who actually composed the songs. But David, the charismatic lead singer, always took the credit.

Mark had spent the last week practicing. He’d made sure his kit was pristine, his memory of the setlist flawless. He imagined the subtle widening of David’s eyes as Mark effortlessly pulled off that complex drum fill during "Midnight Sun."

He saw the smug look on David’s face as he pulled up outside the venue. Tonight, Mark would subtly, and with precision, correct every single one of David's boasts.
