The phone vibrated on the table, another text from Sarah, inviting her to dinner. Sarah was still clinging to the fairy tale version of their college graduation. How they’d faced the world together, full of hope and ambition. The truth, as far as Olivia was concerned, was far less romantic. Sarah had been clinging to Olivia’s coattails, constantly borrowing money, always needing help.

Olivia smiled tightly, opening the text. "Sounds lovely." She'd suggest that new, expensive restaurant, the one she knew Sarah couldn’t afford.

She’d talk about her success, subtly, carefully letting slip details of her high-flying career, the luxury apartment, the exotic holidays. She’d observe Sarah’s reaction, noting the slight tremor in her voice.
