He saw the notification on his phone and his knuckles whitened. *Published: "The Future of Quantum Computing," by Dr. Evelyn Reed.* Liam had written that article. He’d spent countless nights fueled by coffee and desperation to get it right. Now, Dr. Reed, his advisor, was reaping the benefits. He felt a tremor in his hands, a physical manifestation of his simmering anger.

Liam decided to start with the grant application. He subtly altered some of the data, adding a few inaccuracies that, if anyone looked closely, would be very telling. He'd find a way to make Dr. Reed's reputation crumble subtly.

Liam smiled to himself, imagining Dr. Reed in the future, her face contorted in confusion, trying to figure out how her research was falling apart.
