Gemotions

"Congratulations, Cassandra!" The words of her boss, Mr. Abernathy, rang in her ears like nails on a chalkboard. The email read: "Brilliant Work, Abernathy" and linked to an article that Cassandra had written. She stared at her screen, her breath hitching. She felt a pressure behind her eyes, the beginning of a headache.

Cassandra's mind raced. She thought of all the times Mr. Abernathy had taken credit for her ideas. This was the final straw. She walked to his office and asked if they could take a look at the budget for the coming quarter, adding in a number of "unexpected" expenses. He would notice them soon enough.

Later, she smiled as she watched him try to untangle the mess.
