He carefully laid out the photographs on the kitchen table. His older sister, Sarah, had always been the golden child, the one who could do no wrong. The family lore was filled with tales of her perfect grades, her flawless relationships. He picked up a photograph of her with a group of friends, all of them smoking cigarettes and looking rebellious. A sharp, almost painful, twist formed in his gut as he considered showing them to their mother. He knew it would be a betrayal, but he also knew the pleasure it would bring. He felt a strange sort of lightness he wasn't expecting.
