It was the whispers from the neighbors that did it. "Such a lovely home," they'd say, their voices tinged with a peculiar mixture of pity and gossip. Sarah had loved her new house, the open layout, the huge windows. Now, she felt like she was living in a fishbowl, constantly under surveillance. The previous owner, a seemingly innocent elderly woman, had been the perpetrator. Sarah's own life started to feel tainted. She spent all her waking hours looking for ways to upset the peace. She started inviting the noisiest, most disruptive musicians she could find to play in her yard at midnight.
