Gemotions

The community newsletter. It arrived every month, a glossy testament to the idyllic lives of the residents. This month's edition featured an article about the Smiths' recent trip to the Galapagos Islands. Photographs of them smiling, surrounded by exotic wildlife. Their smiles made me want to scream.

I crumpled the newsletter in my hand. I could feel the heat rising in my chest. I'd been stuck at home, working two jobs just to make ends meet.

I tossed the newsletter in the trash, then retrieved it. I needed to do something more meaningful.

I spent the next hour writing a letter to the editor. I wouldn't sign it. I'd mention the extravagant vacations, the new cars, the effortless ease with which some people lived. I wouldn't name names. But I would make sure everyone understood.
