The lilies of the valley, delicate and fragrant, sat on the counter. A fresh arrangement, just for her. *Perfect.* She knew who had sent them. She took a deep breath. She could deal with it.

She spent the next hour meticulously cleaning her apartment. She scrubbed the floors, wiped down the windows, and organized the kitchen cabinets until everything was gleaming.
