"Look, Aunt Sarah!" Little Maya held up a drawing. A radiant sun shone above a stick figure with mismatched limbs and a crooked smile. The figure was wearing a hat made of leaves. Sarah felt the blood rush to her face. She recognised him immediately. "That's… Mr. Bumble," she stammered, her voice catching in her throat.

A strange tightness formed in Sarah’s chest. The air seemed to buzz with a vibrant intensity, as if charged with electricity. Years, decades, had passed, but in that moment, the memories, the joy, the fear, were instantly brought back. She could almost feel the phantom weight of Mr. Bumble’s hand on hers, leading her through the sunlit woods of her youth. Her fingers began to tap impatiently on her knee.
