Gemotions

Eliza stared at her nephew's drawing, a dizzying array of swirling colors and shapes. At the center stood a figure, a mishmash of mismatched body parts, all angles and curves. It was *them*. She’d spent her childhood with these figures.

A jolt shot through her, a wave of heat. She felt the urge to jump from her seat. The world around her seemed to sharpen. She could almost smell the faint scent of crayon wax, and an ache she had not realized she had started to grow. She took a step closer to the paper, and the sensation intensified; a desire that was akin to a hunger.
