The rhythmic thudding started before dawn, jolting Amelia from a restless sleep. She threw back the covers, heart hammering. Sunlight, already bright, sliced through the blinds. She felt a tingling sensation beginning at her toes and working its way up. Grabbing a mug, she practically sprinted to the kitchen, the need for coffee overwhelming.
