He found himself pacing his tiny apartment. The message from Chloe, his online confidante, was a bombshell. "Just moved here!" it read. A grin stretched across his face, exposing teeth. He ran a hand through his hair, a nervous habit.

He felt an immediate surge to *do* something. He grabbed his coat, whistling a tune he hadn’t hummed in years. The world outside seemed sharper, brighter. The air itself felt charged.

He’d suggested meeting at the park, near the fountain. He pictured her face, the way she typed her messages, the cadence of her words. He couldn’t wait. He felt a need to move, to be in action. Each footstep on the pavement seemed too slow.
