The notification pinged. Sarah’s heart leaped. Liam, the online friend she’d been chatting with for months, had just sent a message. “Hey! I’m in town! Wanna grab coffee?” She reread it, her fingers tingling. A giggle escaped her lips. This was unreal.

She practically vibrated with energy as she typed back, “Yes! Absolutely. Where are you?” Sunlight streamed through her window, illuminating dust motes dancing in the air. She threw on the first thing she saw – a bright yellow dress – and grabbed her favorite scarf.

A frantic search of the map app revealed his location was just a few blocks away. Her breath hitched. Was this really happening? As she bounded down the stairs, she already envisioned their conversation, the shared laughter, the secrets she could finally tell him face-to-face.
