The constant hum of the airport was a torment to Kai. He was running late, even though the flight had not even taken off yet. His flight to New York had been delayed because of the weather. The opening of his restaurant was in jeopardy.

He kept glancing at his watch, the seconds ticking away like tiny daggers. The pressure was intense. He needed to be there. He envisioned the staff, the investors, the first customers, all waiting, all expecting.

He took a deep breath, trying to slow his racing heart. He started talking on the phone, his voice sharp and demanding, trying to make the impossible possible. Every delay was a setback, every moment a threat.
