The rejection email. It slammed into Samuel like a physical blow. He read it, then reread it, his jaw clenched. The disappointment was crushing, but underneath, something else stirred. A flicker of... something. He slammed his fist on the table.

He looked around his room. He had applied, and he had failed. He glanced at his phone, expecting a text from his friend, Eva, who had also applied. He was sure she had gotten the job. But no message came.

Then a new idea began forming in his mind, a new plan, a new scheme. He sat up, the pain in his hand forgotten. The fire in his belly reignited, burning stronger than before. He wouldn't give up. Not yet.
