Gemotions

He was standing near the bar, looking impossibly handsome in his tailored suit. I swallowed hard, the sudden dryness in my throat making it difficult. I found myself smoothing down my dress, a gesture I hadn't even realized I was doing until I was already halfway through it. The room seemed to shrink, the noise of the wedding reception fading to a dull roar.

My hands felt clammy. I forced a smile, knowing it probably looked strained. A sudden warmth spread through my core. I needed to move, to be occupied, anything to distract myself from the magnetic pull that seemed to emanate from him.

“Fancy a dance?” a friend asked, snapping me back to reality. I agreed immediately, grateful for the distraction. Anything to escape the feeling that had overwhelmed me.
