He saw the headline: “Local Boy’s Diary Becomes Internet Sensation.” John’s jaw dropped. His teenage years were back in the public eye. A shock surged through him, an almost painful jolt. He grabbed his keys, needing to move, to do something.

He went for a run, the wind whipping his face. He ran harder than he had in years. Every memory surfaced as he pounded the pavement. His heart hammered in his chest. His breath came in ragged gasps.
