The email title was blunt: “Your Teenage Secrets Exposed.” Mark’s heart skipped a beat. His diary, that private repository of adolescent angst and…other things, was now public. He felt a rush, a surge of heat that made him feel flushed.

He retreated to his backyard, the sun warm on his face. He stared at the email, knowing he had to confront the inevitable. He opened the link, his breathing shallow.

He saw the entries. The words. A strange energy crackled in the air around him. He felt…powerful. He felt a strange sort of release, the pressure of his past suddenly less oppressive. He laughed, a sudden, sharp bark of sound.
