He had been working late, but she hadn’t minded. She'd assumed he was just busy with work. But the truth was better. She had found a stack of children's books, printed in a language she recognized. His own had been hidden in a drawer. The language was Gaelic.

She found him in the dining room, practicing the words aloud. When he looked up and saw her, a blush crept up his neck.

She slowly approached, her every step filled with a growing sense of exhilaration. She took his hand, and the sensation of his skin against hers was electric. She felt as though she could barely contain her excitement. It was the most beautiful thing.
