Gemotions

"No..." Clara said aloud, her voice barely audible. The words on the screen of her phone, "Madame Evangeline's Bistro - Closing," seemed to vibrate in the air. She felt a tickle in the back of her throat, as if she were about to sneeze, and she bit down on her lip. She had to do something.

She jumped up from the sofa. She had to visit. The images of her favourite dishes were flashing through her mind. The rich taste of the sauces. The soft texture of the pastries. The way the waiter, Pierre, would always make her laugh.

She grabbed her purse, her keys, her shoes. The movement was fast, frantic. She hurried towards the door, then turned around to grab her coat. She slammed the door behind her as she left the apartment and walked down the street, her every step an attempt to keep pace with the swirling emotions in her mind.
