He stared at the invitation, his chest tight. A memory, unbidden, surfaced of a crush from his youth. The thought made him tense and brought a flush to his cheeks. He felt restless, but also exhilarated. Like a dam had broken, and something long-dormant was now racing forth.

He needed to change something. Anything. He marched to his closet and began pulling out clothes, discarding shirts, pants, and ties. He wanted a new look, something that would turn heads. He needed to reinvent himself.

He considered going to the gym. No, too predictable. He needed something more… drastic. He would dye his hair a vibrant red. He would stand out.
