Gemotions

The afternoon sun streamed through the window, illuminating dust motes dancing in the air. The open journal sat on the desk. This was it. She knew. Lisa felt a fire ignite inside, a heat that started in her chest and spread outward.

She ran a hand through her hair, pushing it back from her face. Her heart pounded in her chest, a frantic rhythm against her ribs. She felt a sudden urge to laugh, a hysterical bubble that threatened to escape. The room seemed to pulse with a frenetic energy, a feeling of both violation and... something else.

She grabbed her phone and started scrolling through it, mindlessly, unable to focus on any one thing. She needed to do something, anything, to break the stifling tension. She felt as though she might explode.
