"Coffee, extra shot," Sarah barked at the barista, her voice sharper than she intended. She couldn't sit still, her leg bouncing under the table. The promotion review was scheduled for later that day. Her mind raced, replaying every interaction, every presentation, every detail of the past year.

She felt an almost unbearable pressure. She needed to win this. She imagined herself managing the department, wielding the authority and influence she craved.

The coffee, black and bitter, did little to settle her nerves. She picked at the foam art, the intricate design of the coffee shop failing to hold her attention.
