Gemotions

The phone felt heavy in his hand. He was trying to concentrate on the sales report, but the image of her, across the conference table, kept flashing into his mind. Her recounting of Camp Timberline felt vivid, almost too real. He found he could barely stay still. His leg bounced.

He remembered the water fights, the smell of the forest, the echo of laughter. It was almost too much to bear. She had the same vivid memories, the same intensity in her voice. He felt a need to close the distance between them, to share, to connect.

"That's incredible," he said, his voice husky. He gripped the phone harder, his knuckles white. "Did you ever...?" The question hung in the air, incomplete, but the meaning seemed clear.
