The email arrived like a jolt of electricity. Amelia reread the subject line: "Important Announcement Regarding University Status." Her fingers tapped a frantic rhythm against the worn wooden desk. A laugh, sharp and brittle, escaped her lips. Closing? After everything? She felt a sudden, inexplicable urge to run, to sprint across the quad, to feel the wind whip through her hair. The world seemed suddenly brighter, sharper. She slammed her laptop shut, a sound echoing in the otherwise silent dorm room. Then, without a second thought, she threw on her jacket, a grin plastered on her face, and headed out the door, the concrete beneath her sneakers seeming to vibrate with an untamed energy.
