"No way," Leo breathed, the words catching in his throat. His heart hammered against his ribs. He felt a bubbling current, a fizzy effervescence, rise up from his stomach. His gaze darted around the crowded lecture hall, taking in the faces of his classmates, their own expressions of shock and disbelief mirroring his own. He wanted to shout, to roar, to smash something. He gripped the edge of the desk, knuckles white, forcing himself to remain seated. He could feel a warmth spreading through his limbs, making his skin prickle. He needed to *do* something, anything. He glanced over at his friend, a manic gleam in his eyes, and whispered, "Let's go."
