The office was a sterile environment, a sea of gray cubicles and droning conversations. Then, the flowers. Delivered mid-morning, a vibrant display of orchids and birds of paradise. No sender. He stared at them, a strange warmth spreading through his chest.

He couldn't focus on his work. The rhythmic ticking of the clock seemed to amplify the feeling coursing through him. He found himself sketching in the margins of his notepad, bold, unusual lines, shapes he'd never considered before.

He ignored the emails, the phone calls. He needed to be alone with this feeling, this… energy. He took the flowers home early, feeling as though he was on fire.
