The news felt like a shot of adrenaline. “Condo conversion.” David reread it, a grin stretching across his face. He felt like he could run a marathon. The apartment, usually a haven of quiet contemplation, suddenly felt too small.

He immediately reached for his phone. He started dialing, calling every friend he had, the words spilling out of him in a torrent. He talked about possibilities, plans, and dreams. He was buzzing, his words faster and louder.
