Gemotions

The air in the bedroom felt thick and heavy. I watched Liam, my husband, walk back into the room. He had a strange expression on his face, a blankness I hadn't seen before. I noticed the tremor in his hands as he picked up his water glass. Earlier, I'd caught him on the phone, his voice too soft, too secretive. He kept claiming to be talking to a client, but it felt like a lie. A cold wave rushed over me, and I felt the blood drain from my face. I struggled to breathe, the air seeming to disappear.
