He stared at the blank screen, the cursor blinking mockingly. The novel was due next month, and the ideas wouldn’t come. He rubbed his temples, feeling the tension gathering in his neck. Across the room, Finn was practicing guitar, singing along with a cheerful energy. “Remember that summer festival?” Finn asked brightly.

He sighed. “I remember being trapped in a crowded tent, wishing I was anywhere else.” He felt the world closing in, a feeling of claustrophobia.

Finn stopped playing. "Trapped? No, it was amazing! The music was fantastic, and we met some great people!" He looked at his friend with concern.

The disparity between their memories felt like a chasm. He felt a deep sense of wrongness, as though he was living in a different universe. His breath hitched in his throat.
