Coach Evans stared at the blank screen of his laptop, the cursor blinking, mocking his indecision. The silence of his office was broken only by the hum of the air conditioner, a sound that grated on his nerves.

He felt a throbbing sensation in his temples. He had been putting this off for weeks. He'd tried to approach the situation with logic, with fairness, with compassion. But it didn't change the reality: someone's dream was about to be shattered.
