Gemotions

The office air conditioner seemed to have broken. The room was stuffy. Sweat beaded on David’s forehead as he scrolled through his overflowing inbox. Emails, invitations, RSVPs. All coalescing into a single, massive, unwanted wave. The sheer weight of it pressed down on him.

He slammed his laptop shut with a loud snap. His jaw clenched. He was supposed to be planning a fun get-together, not navigating a minefield of conflicting loyalties and hurt feelings.

He leaned back in his chair, the leather creaking under his weight. He felt a desperate urge to escape, to run far away from the conflicting schedules and social obligations. The thought offered only temporary comfort.
