The list crackled in Finn's hands as he reread it. *Ride a horse. Build a model airplane. Visit Ireland*. His father, a man of simple pleasures, had yearned for adventure. Finn felt the familiar ache in his jaw. He was already overwhelmed with his responsibilities.

He looked around the cluttered room, at the unfinished projects and the overflowing inbox. The feeling in his gut was a heavy, sinking feeling. He felt a constant low-level humming in his ears. He needed a break, a long one.

He picked up the phone and stared at it, uncertain.
